Culture & Community Research Intern (Bangkok Design Week)
Location: Bangkok Old Town
Duration: Mid December 2025 – February 2026
About the Role
Join The Roots Routes’ creative team as we prepare for Bangkok Design Week 2026. You’ll play a key role in researching and documenting cultural stories, local communities, and urban spaces that inspire our three upcoming experience-based projects.
This role is ideal for someone who loves fieldwork, storytelling, and uncovering the human side of places, from conversations with local artisans to observing everyday life in hidden corners of Bangkok.
Responsibilities
Conduct cultural and site research around project locations in Bangkok Old Town and Hua Lamphong neighborhood.
Collect stories, interviews, and observations from local communities.
Assist in shaping cultural narratives and creative briefs for design and storytelling projects.
Support event preparation and coordination during Bangkok Design Week.
Work closely with designers, content creators, and community collaborators.
What You’ll Learn
How to translate local stories into creative and cultural projects.
Experience in qualitative research, cultural mapping, and narrative design.
Fieldwork and collaboration skills in real-world cultural contexts.
Content planning, and designing for product design
Note: This is an unpaid internship opportunity
Requirements
Curious, empathetic, and confident in talking to people from diverse backgrounds.
Good research and writing skills (Thai and/or English).
Comfortable exploring urban neighborhoods and participating in community activities.
Interest in culture, design, urban studies, or community-based projects.
